Well we are two days out of Hanoi and we spent the first night in Ninh Binh which is a nice town about 60 Miles south of Hanoi. So far 120 Miles over the 2 days of riding. It’s a great group of riders and the countryside is starting to open up though not really rural. Riding Hwy 1 is not the best way to see the more rural parts so hopefully we will get on some alternate routes. The good thing is it is direct and has a wide shoulder to accommodate all the local bicycle and scooter traffic.
I wish I had a softer seat or a tougher butt but other than that I feel good and pretty strong.
We have had some fantastic food with lots of Pho and other soup type dishes as well.

I think we are looking forward to getting to the coast (we are close) but it has been an interesting ride so far.. the people are exuberant when we are riding or stopped and every young person wants to say hello and any other English word they may know.

Are the roads asphalt or dirt? Sure were a lot of sketchy ones when we traveled by bus... 60 miles a day?! Jeeze!
